Fall 2025 Tree Program

Shade Tree Commission has partnered with Fernbrook Wholesale Nursery to offer a selection of trees at a cost of $385 (B&B) and $175 (#7 Bag) for our residents. Depending upon species this represents a savings between $125 & $200 compared with the standard retail price for similar trees, including planting and guarantee.

The price includes delivery & planting. B&B Trees will be 2-2.5” in diameter and the #7 Bagged trees 5-7’ tall. Trees are guaranteed by Fernbrook for 1 year. See below for guarantee details. Planting will take place in October. Residents choose the planting location(s). See "Planting Locations" below. You may order as many trees for your property as you desire but on a first come first served basis. For descriptions of the available trees see Tree Descriptions

Orders must be received by September 30th. Make check payable to "Fernbrook Nursery" and give it to Fernbrook on the day of planting, or leave it for them.

Guarantee details

All plants shall be guaranteed to be in a satisfactory growing condition and to live for a period of 1 year from planting except in raised pots or planters, plants under any overhang, plants receiving mechanical damage, plants damaged by act of God, plants subject to extreme weather conditions not typical of the area. All plants that fail to survive under the guarantee shall be replaced once at the end of the guarantee period with the same type and size as originally specified. The cost of replacement shall be for the labor only on an hourly basis. No cost shall be charged for the plant material.

 

Planting Locations

You chose the planting locations noting the following conditions.

The B&B root balls are fairly large and heavy so adequate access is essential. We will not be able to access a site via a fence gate or narrow alley way. We will also not be able to plant a tree near a water main or gas line.

You are responsible for arranging for any required Utility Markouts. Call 811 or visit the website Call Before You Dig

No planting in Borough Right of Way (Street Lawn). If you would like a tree along the street, please contact the Shade Tree Commission.

When choosing a location be aware of overhead utility lines. With the exception of Cercis canadensis 'Pink Heartbreaker' the available trees are not suitable for planting under or near them.
